Yes, I moved to WordPress from a fully custom HTML site that I had built myself that could no loner keep up with expanding monitor displays, mobile and of course accessibility. WordPress, yes it is easy. Yes it is constraining to use someone else’s template. But, hey, back in the 90s I learned HTML. Like knowing the basics of English syntax to craft one’s communication, HTML is still the Internet’s building block. So I hunted downed the edit in HTML button and added a few <p align=”left”> and my layout looks better. CSS you say, well yes — that will be for another day. Templates can get updated and break custom coding, yes, I gather I am taking a risk doing anything custom. But centered text just gives me the willies.
WordPress has saved me but HTML is alive and well
